Reasons to Attend

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

As President of the World Society for Pediatric Infectious Disease (WSPID), it gives me great pleasure to introduce our wonderful society.

In the 23rd year of our founding, we continue to be inspired by the passion and commitment we see in the pediatric infectious disease community  - our member societies, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, funders and advocates, all working on behalf of children and their families to find solutions for some of the world's most challenging pediatric health issues.

We are extremely fortunate to have a dedicated and expert Board representing our member societies from all regions of the globe.  The Board are the custodians, guiding WSPID as we move forward, ensuring it continues to be a scientifically strong, transparent and relevant society.

As we embark on the year ahead, WSPID will focus on creating and promoting further educational initiatives, in addition to our already long-standing commitment to knowledge transfer through WSPID's biennial conference.  We have created an Education Committee who has been tasked with producing and vetting a curriculum that focuses on professional learning and education to the benefit of our members and the pediatric infectious disease community at large.    WSPID's educational content will be made available on our website.

Our new website will be launched shortly and has been designed to readily communicate with the pediatric infectious disease community, to facilitate the sharing of news & resources and promote WSPID's activities and those of our membership.

One of the highlights this year will be the 10th World Congress on Pediatric Infectious Diseases, taking place in Shenzhen, China, from 2 to 5 December, 2017.

The congress organising committee have put together an exciting programme, which we hope will appeal to all pediatric infectious disease specialists, whether they are clinicians, researchers, residents, or students.

Our eminent speakers are international and regional, representing the pediatric infectious disease community and will address the challenges and share success stories from both Asia and abroad.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be an exciting forum of sharing the latest knowledge and networking of likeminded colleagues.

Your active participation will be the basis of this congress' success and we hope to see you in Shenzhen!

In the meantime, do stay in touch with us – we would love to hear from you.

With my best personal regards,

Jim Buttery

WSPID President
